A Perfect Day for a First Post

Just the right time for a first blog post. It is indeed both a rainy day and a Monday here in wet Oregon. I sit cozily in my chair, a warm pup atop my lap and watch the rain fall in our back yard. So much domesticity calls to me: laundry, dishes, the never-ending stacks of miscellany that fill our home. I refuse to listen to its' call just now.

I'll finish the hat I'm knitting; it has only a few rounds to go. Then I shall go get the dryer unloaded, refilled, and another washload started. Dinner: no gourmet offering tonight. Leftovers from Saturday with some fresh additions. And there will be more dishes to add soon enough.

One is supposed to have a specific field of interest to attract blog-readers of a similar bent, but I have not decided on that. I didn't MEAN to sign up for a blog, was simply trying to comment on the blog of another I'd run across last week, was required to sign in, and then somehow I was being asked to name my blog. What? Me? A blog? I didn't sign up for this. Er, I guess I did, but only accidentally. (Not "accidentally" like my husband explained how he happened to arrive home with a bag of candy  a quarter gone on October 31. He had "accidentally" eaten several little bars of chocolate.)

I could make this about so many things. I am one of those scattered people with a lot of interests, and no expertise in any one thing. I am first of all a daughter of God, then a wife, a knitter, an RN, a would-be cook, an enthusiastic newcomer to canning. I craft and sew some (I believe "sewist" is the current descriptor, to clarify a person, even the least hygenic of persons, is NOT a sewer, a cesspool or an outhouse.) Oh yes, and sometimes I admit to a quirky sense of humor. I used to do some professional writing, selling to magazines, occasionally newspapers. I live very close to the home I grew up in, near my mother, several siblings, sibs-in-law and their families and my father-in-law.

Enough about me. What about you? How did you run across my blog and what common interests do you have from those I mentioned?
